Man City are seeking to agree a deal to sign Cody Gakpo to replace Savio and Omar Marmoush, according to Football Insider. The Dutchman will serve as a deputy to Bradley Barcola if he stays at Anfield, with City offering him the chance to star at the Etihad Stadium. Spurs, who signed Savio and Marmoush, are also interested, but it will likely come down to whoever pays the £80m Liverpool are asking for to give the green light to a sale. This is not something Liverpool are ready to offer him, and so it’s understandable that he may have expressed a desire to leave behind closed doors. Then there’s his £250,000 per week wages. Liverpool cannot justify keeping such a well-paid player on the bench once Barcola arrives. The Reds will also have more than enough depth to let Gakpo leave now that Barcola’s move to Liverpool is agreed and set to be announced. With Rio Ngumoha as backup to Barcola, Liverpool feel they can trust the 17-year-old to serve as the Frenchman’s deputy, but time will tell if this is the case.
