Leeds United player ratings vs RB Leipzig as Tarik Muharemovic and Sean Longstaff excel Read how Leeds United's players rated against RB Leipzig in today's friendly at Elland Road Leeds United ran out impressive 2-0 winners over Champions League outfit RB Leipzig in a game that was split into two 60-minute halves. Goals from Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Lukas Nmecha saw the hosts to the victory in the first Elland Road friendly of the summer, with Tarik Muahremovic and Sean Longstaff otherwise impressing. Leeds went ahead inside seven minutes when Joe Rodon charged down the right to latch onto a through-ball to play a super cross to Calvert-Lewin to finish first time. Daniel James' dragged shot, Calvert-Lewin's header at the goalkeeper and Harry Wilson's side-foot wide were Leeds' best subsequent chances of the first 60 minutes. Leeds made six changes at the interval and it was substitute Brenden Aaronson who pulled a shot wide during a one-on-one. A half of little other chances saw Nmecha break the stagnation with a cool finish inside the six yard box after Wilfried Gnonto's pull-back. Here are how all the players rated. STARTED FIRST HALF Alex Cairns* - Left fans gasping with his late release at times. Never got caught, though. Got down low well to push away a shot and clung onto another in the second 'quarter'. Really good save late on when faced with a one-on-one. Played all 120 minutes and kept a clean sheet. 8 Jayden Bogle* - Played in Rodon for his assist. Often seen quite high and inverting when the situation allowed. Good defensively. 7 Joe Rodon - Turbo-boosted down the right and excellent cross for Calvert-Lewin's opener. Was excellent defensively and made more runs up the channel. 8 Sebastiaan Bornauw - Solid. Dug himself out of a hole really well following a poor touch at one point. Used his body well. 7 Tarik Muharemovic* - Solid interceptions of the ball, with good reading of the game. Didn't lose a duel, despite Johan Bakayoko being Leipzig's greatest threat. Sprinted back to win a tackle after finding himself out of position following an advanced run. 8 James Justin* - More adventurous than in the previous three friendlies. Should have got an assist for Wilson, but for the finish. A few loose bits of play, including a pass straight out of play and a clumsy, albeit tired, effort from a good cross. 6 Ethan Ampadu - Cooled the play and commanded the midfield. Got his foot in well and got a bruise or two for it. 7 Sean Longstaff - Reliable in his play, and put in a good challenge or two. Some very neat passes between the lines. Set-pieces were dangerous too. 8 Daniel James - As lively as ever and enjoyed a few sprint dibbles. Dragged a shot from inside the box wide when he ought to have done better. End product was lacking but as for the bits before that, he did well - including a few take-ons and winning free-kicks. 7 Harry Wilson* - Darted about. Not always on the same wavelength as Bogle, still getting used to his teammates and system. Better as the half grew and was never shy of the ball. Will be annoyed he directed his side-footed penalty-box effort off target. Mixed bag. 7 Dominic Calvert-Lewin - Typical poacher's first-time finish for his opener. Productive otherwise, though maybe could have done better with his header at the goalkeeper in the second quarter. 7 STARTED SECOND HALF Jayden Lienou - Left-back showed some great touches, his confidence growing with every 'ooo' from the crowd. Enacted a few turnovers. 6 Jaka Bijol - Kept things simple in his first outing of the summer. Won a fair few headers. 6 Anton Stach - Some neat touches. Wasn't afraid to go into tackles and prompted a tunrover or two. Always looked to cut the lines. 6 Ao Tanaka - Won his duels. Often found deep on the ball but consistently went forward to break the lines. Took a long throw with Ampadu off the field. Was beaten once or twice. 6 Brenden Aaronson - Showed noteworthy initiative and very positive. Should have hit the target with his effort just after the break having done so well to latch onto the through ball in the first place. Set up Gnonto's assist. 7 Lukas Nmecha - Pottered about. Mostly ineffective before his goal, which was colly taken. Then smacked a shot at the goalkeeper before ruffling up some defenders amid the long ball. 6 SUBS Callum Mills - Got himself into promising positions but still very raw in his play. Put in a great ball for Justin. Showed some good touches. 6 Rhys Chadwick - Played out of position at right-back and did decently, staying composed. 6 Wilfried Gnonto - Flashed in a shot that went for a corner and played a nice ball through to Aaronson but also lost the ball which led to a break. Got the assist for Nmecha. Was productive. 7 Alfie Cresswell - Kept his posotion well, cutting out a cipped ball through. Guided a header onto the bar, was unlucky. Another good bit of experience for the youngster. 7 MANAGER: Daniel Farke - Will have been pleased with what he saw in the first half, with his tactics spot on. Made the changes he needed to due to fatigue and will have been happy if not over the moon with how the second half panned out.
