Tottenham star James Maddison is set to miss a few games following his latest injury. Tottenham Hotspur midfielder James Maddison’s fitness was managed during the entire pre-season campaign. He made his sole pre-season appearance in a 2-2 draw against TSG Hoffenheim at Hotspur Way on August 16. The creative midfielder barely managed a handful of appearances last season, playing just 34 minutes after returning at the business end of the campaign following an ACL rupture. In fact, he was in a race against time to be fit for Spurs’ Premier League opener last weekend. Eventually, James Maddison was included in the squad and came off the bench in Tottenham’s disappointing 3-0 defeat to Brentford. Unfortunately, the England international landed awkwardly from a fall during the second half against Brentford and fractured his shoulder. A subsequent MRI scan showed a slight break, with reports suggesting he is set to be out for up to two weeks. Keith Wyness thinks Tottenham could be forced to sell James Maddison Maddison simply cannot catch a break from injuries. Recurrent injury problems in recent years have massively hampered the playmaker’s form and consistency. And after the latest shoulder problem, former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness feels Spurs could be forced into considering the possibility of moving on the playmaker. “I think you’ve got to consider it all right now. I’ve been a fan of Maddison’s. I like the way he plays. I like him as a personality,” Keith Wyness told Football Insider. “But there’s no doubt this is becoming a pattern in terms of injury. And at his age now, Spurs are going to have to decide: do they try and salvage some value out of him right now or not? “Or do they just get the best use out of him that they can? But I’d expect them to do the first and look to move him on soon because that pattern is emerging. “Now obviously that pattern will be reflected in his valuation as well. He’s had problems in terms of long-term injuries, and here he is again injured straight away, so I would be saying right now they’ll be looking at what to do with him and I don’t think they’re looking at the long-term situation at Spurs.” Maddison to stay at Spurs this year Following a £40million move from Leicester City in 2023, Maddison has completed 90 minutes in the Premier League just five times in a Tottenham shirt. This clearly shows why the move hasn’t been successful. The constant fitness issues have restricted the Englishman from taking his game to the next level and regularly making an impact for the Lilywhites. The 29-year-old is out of action once again, and while it is a minor injury, it has disrupted Maddison’s rhythm and De Zerbi’s planning in the early stages of the new campaign. For now, Maddison isn’t going anywhere, as no club would want to sign an injury-prone player.
