Serie A side Como set to sign teenage Bohemians striker Josh Harpur
Cesc Fabregas’s Como have made another foray into the Irish market by agreeing a deal to recruit teenage Bohemians striker Josh Harpur.
Cavan native Harpur, who turned 17 on Thursday, will move to Italy on a three-year contract.
It’s understood the initial fee received by Bohs, once the forward passes his medical, will be in the region of €250,000.
He follows in the footsteps of compatriots Liam Kerrigan and Naz Raji, both of whom have since moved on to new ventures.
Como edged out Juventus last season to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in their history. They were drawn on Thursday to face, among others, Manchester United, at their refurbished 13,000-capacity Stadio Giuseppe Sinigaglia.
Harpur was handed his first professional contract by Bohemians last December after making his debut at the age of just 15.
Manager Alan Reynolds described the prolific Ireland U17 striker: “Josh is a really good finisher. He’s a big lad, and really fit and strong for his age,” he said.
“He’s a proper attacking centre-forward, who wants to score goals. He has a super attitude and he’s really hungry to do well here.”
