Birmingham City Women have signed Japanese midfielder Suzu Amano from Växjö DFF for an undisclosed fee. She spent the last two years playing in Sweden’s top flight and was previously at Hammarby. Starting out with INAC Kobe Leonessa, she became the youngest player in the club’s history when she made her first-team debut at age 14 in 2018 and helped them lift the inaugural WE League title in 2021/22. Amano has featured at two FIFA U20 Women’s World Cups, scored against Spain in a final and was also part of the Japan squad that won gold at the Asian Games in 2023. Head Coach Amy Merricks told bcfc.com: “Suzu is an exciting young player who has gained valuable experience with Japan at age-group level, making an impact at major international tournaments. “She has also spent the last couple of years playing in a strong league in Sweden. She has a lot of potential, and we’re excited to support her development and have her as part of this group.” Keep up with women's football transfer news The Women's Transfer News Roundup from Her Goal Magazine delivers to you breaking transfer stories from across the women's game in one easy-to-read newsletter, sent regularly during the summer transfer window.
