Swansea City v Birmingham City LIVE: Kick-off time, team news and score updates
Follow all the latest as the Swans take on Birmingham in the Carabao Cup
The new season is here, albeit with a slightly different feel, with the Carabao Cup first on the agenda for Swansea City.
They welcome Birmingham City to the Swansea.com Stadium today, and it will will be interesting to see what sort of line-up Vitor Matos opts for, with the Championship campaign starting with a trip to Stoke City next week.
New signing Ross Stewart isn't fit to start despite completing his move on a free transfer earlier this week, but Zan Vipotnik could well play some role, having missed most of his side's pre-season action with a knock.
Goncalo Franco remains out, but Ben Cabango and Stephen Welsh are both in contention after missing last week's friendly with Leganes.
As ever, you can follow live updates from today's clash with our live blog below.
Kick-off is at 3pm
Key Events
Swansea City boss Vitor Matos admits he's watched Senegalese midfielder Ousseynou Fall Seck, but has stopped short of confirming the club's interest.
WalesOnline understands Swansea have agreed a £2m fee with Danish side Randers for the 19-year-old, with the player believed to be keen on making the move to SA1 this summer.
Several other clubs, including German side Eintracht Frankfurt, are also understood to have taken a keen interest, but Fall Seck is believed to favour a move to the Swans, believing it will be the best next step for his development.
But while Swansea appear to be the front-runners for his signature, Matos refused to be drawn on suggestions the teenager is a target in this window.
"I know him because I watched Senegal playing," Matos said ahead of Saturday's Carabao Cup clash with Birmingham City.
"That's where I know him, but I know him and the other 10 players that were on the pitch, so nothing more about that."
Did say it would be fairly strong.
Just the one change from the friendly win over Leganes last weekend.
Ben Cabango comes in for Josh Key, meaning Lissah will surely be playing on the right of the back four.
New signing Tiago Parente is on the bench, along with Stephen Welsh, who returns from illness.
Zan Vipotnik also starts among the subs today.
Here's how the visitors line up for today's clash!
Swansea City: Vigouroux; Lissah, Burgess, Cabango, Tymon; Stamenic, Widell; Opoku, Just, Yeo; Idah
Subs: Fisher, Fulton, Vipotnik, Eom, Parente, Walta, Welsh, Ronald
We'll have today's teams very shortly.
Hearing it is indeed a fairly strong one...
Vitor Matos insists Zan Vipotnik's future at Swansea City has not been affected by Ross Stewart's arrival - and says he's happy to accommodate three senior strikers for the new season.
Stewart completed a free transfer to the Swans on Thursday, becoming Swansea's sixth new signing of the window.
He has signed a three-year deal at the club, and his capture will be seen as a huge statement of intent given the player's Championship pedigree.
Stewart scored 11 goals in 33 appearances in all competitions for Southampton last season, and his arrival will inevitably spark further questions over Vipotnik's future at the club, with clubs in England and Europe taking an interest.
As things stand, however, there is nothing on the table from anyone, and Matos clearly hasn't ruled out the possibility of keeping all three strikers on board.
"I think one thing we tried is to increase the competition or the healthy competition inside of the squad," he said.
"I think that's what we've done. There's a lot of challenges, a lot of games to come, a lot of competitions as well to participate in and I think having a squad with depth in all positions was quite important for us.
"It's something that we felt last season in some moments was a little bit tricky.
"I still remember when I was sitting here in December everyone asked why we only had Zan Vipotnik as a striker and I needed I think maybe three press conferences to try to justify it.
"I think it's important to have that depth, of course, and then with that trying to squeeze the best out of the squad and that's what we will do as well."
Carabao Cup games at this stage of the season are normally a time for managers to give younger and more fringe members of the squad some game time.
But Matos has suggested his side will go strong today.
"We don't separate competitions," he said.
"It's our first game of the season so for us it's a game we want to compete in. That's what we need.
"Birmingham are a really good team, had really good results in pre-season if we look to the games they played against really good oppositions.
"They are really aggressive, probably one of the most aggressive teams I've seen in recent times in terms of pressing, direct as well, set-piece is quite important, so it will be a really good challenge."
Vitor Matos pleased with the work that's been done in pre-season, but clearly thinks there's more to come from his side.
"Of course, any team in the world isn't the end product now.
"I think we are stepping in that direction.
"You need to introduce the new signings and you need to adapt international players who return [to training] later, so there are a lot of small things that need time.
"Like all the teams at the moment, we are getting back in terms of game quality, in terms of fitness. That will come with the competitive games."
Afternoon Jacks.
