Fikayo Tomori’s potential move to Coventry City or Newcastle United should speed up in the coming days as AC Milan seek sales. Saturday’s printed edition of Corriere dello Sport states ‘the sell-off begins’ at Milan this week as Ruben Amorim wants a leaner squad to work with. AC Milan need sales Amorim’s desire to trim down the squad means that ‘many players are likely to leave Milan’ before the end of the summer transfer window. Fikayo Tomori is one of those likely to depart. Corriere state that Milan are considering the sale of the defender, who has admirers in the Premier League. He is ‘admired’ by Frank Lampard and Coventry City. Lampard, of course, worked with the central defender during his time at Chelsea. However, Newcastle and Juventus have also ‘made enquiries’ about the 28-year-old as well. The plan for Milan is to step up their efforts in the coming days to get exits moving. They want to generate revenue from sales to try and finalise the squad with more signings. There is no mention of their potential asking price for Tomori at this point. Newcastle United bid Sport Witness have covered reports on Coventry and Newcastle interest in the defender for the last few weeks, though. A report last month stated that Fikayo Tomori has his phone in his hand waiting for calls to arrive. Coventry, Newcastle and West Ham were the potential suitors at that point in time. A subsequent report, just a day later in fact, stated that Newcastle had already submitted a bid for the AC Milan defender. That report stated that the Magpies bid was valued at €15m. The belief was that Milan wanted €20m plus bonuses to sanction a deal. That was a month ago and there has been no progress since. Now with the Italian side needing sales for further additions, there may be room for Coventry and Newcastle to negotiate the deal that they want.
