Packers Practice Roundup, August 26, 2026 The Packers started strong in the joint practice but completely fizzle at the end. Number 2 offense for the Cards also scores a td. 0/4 for the Packers in 2 minute. Take of two practices. Packers dominated the first half of practice. Cardinals dominated the 2nd half of practice. And with that - training camp is over. On to the final preseason game. Herman The No. 1 defense for the start of 2-minute had Barryn Sorrell, Karl Brooks, Devonte Wyatt and Lukas Van Ness across the front, Brandon Cisse and Keisean Nixon as the corners, Kamal Hadden in the slot and then the usual linebackers (Edgerrin Cooper and Zaire Franklin) and safeties (Xavier McKinney and Evan Williams). Huber OFFENSE: McCord gets in for his first rep and goes deep to Hilton Jr but it’s picked for the Cardinals first real good play on defense. Next play McCord has Sturdivant wide open deep and misses him. Inside run by strong goes nowhere. 2) Tyrod Taylor had Neyor deep down the right sideline but underthrew him. Incomplete. 3) Jaden Nixon screen td from McCord. McCord to Sturdivant for a td at the front corner of the goaline. Herman Matthew Golden is not human. Beautiful pass from Love from Golden who beats two Cardinals defenders for a 45 yard touchdown. 2) Jordan Love was electric during first team period. Deep ball to Golden, crosser to Reed and a few strikes to Watson. Great start for QB1. 3) Very well blocked goal line for Brooks who gets into the end zone untouched Kraft had a slant before that. 4) Team red zone ends with a back shoulder throw to pylon to Sturdivant, who then does backflip. 4) Golden gets a step on Burke and Baker again but Love’s throw falls a few yards too far. 5) Spirted two minute with the ones ends with a “sack” at AZ 4. Reed a couple nice catches, Kraft converted near sideline and then drew an unnecessary roughness call off a late hit. Hodkiewicz Cardinals CB Elijah Jones picks a Tyrod Taylor pass deflected off Isaiah Neyor. Wood Love starts team drills out with a completion to Watson wide open over the middle off play action. Jacobs follows with a big run right up the middle. Probably the best run play of Packers camp. Jacobs on a swing pass for a nice gain. Chris Brooks as the win back in pistol. 2) Jacobs with another nice run up the middle off a draw. Love with a strike to Watson in between two defenders. Ballsy throw and an impressive one. No risk of pick but a very tight window. Love deep to Melton. Looks like his throw was altered a bit by the rush. Thought Melton drew a PI but incomplete and no call from the officials. Skyy Moore with a very successful jet sweep. Tyrod throws outside to a wide open Prather but he drops it clean. 3) Sturdivant draws a PI. Good to see him back doing team. Love - golden - BOMB - TOUCHDOWN. WHAT A THROW AND CATCH!!!! 4) Love to Reed for a big gain. The offense is absolutely scorching the Cards defense right now. 5) Love to Golden on a comeback for about 13. Love to Watson on a skinny post. Love is just on fire right now. Bubble outside to Moore complete for a handful. Neyor got a rep with the ones on a third down play. Love to Brooks on a check down. Maybe a bit hot but Brooks should have caught it. Dropped. 6) The Cardinals just left Tucker Kraft wide open. Seems like bad strategy. Love scrambles for a first down after doing a nice job stepping up in the pocket. Love with swing pass / check down to Lloyd that goes for about 10. Inside run by Lloyd goes nowhere. 7) Love throws one up to Dabney for a 50/50 ball. Probably not a great choice. Cardinals pick it off. Don’t think we’ll see many jump balls to Dabney in season. Love with a nice throw down the sidelines to Melton for about 15. 8) Bo Melton having a day. Leaping comeback route catch right along the left sidelines for about 12. Jayden Reed sweep goes nowhere in red zone. 9) Love to Kraft right at the goaline for a TD vs a very chirpy Wingard. Chris Brooks inside run td at the goaline. Jager Burton now in at LG w the 1s. Darius Robinson sack vs Belton. Got beat bad. 10) Love play action pass - takes a deep shot down the field to Whyle - easily picked off. Not much success targeting backup tight ends today. Love to Golden complete on an out route. 11) Love fires into the end zone for what looked like a sure td. But it was dropped clean. Golden with an extremely rare drop. Packers can’t convert on 4th down. Drive stalls. Cards defense gets the win. Herman The Play of the Day was that third-down play, the Jordan Love-to-Matthew Golden touchdown. Golden got behind cornerback Denzel Burke and longtime star safety Budda Baker. Love’s pass floated over the defenders and to Golden, who made a tumbling catch. 2) In red zone, Love was 2-of-5 passing. He missed Kraft on a post for what should have been a touchdown and was almost intercepted by safety Andrew Wingard – that seemed like a turning-point play for practice. Next, he hit Kraft over the middle, and he YAC’d his way for a touchdown, and Lloyd but short of the end zone. Finally, he had to throw it away with rushers in his face and Aaron Banks and Anthony Belton on the ground. 3) Banks was on the ground again in the next period, with Love sacked by Jordan Burch. After that, Lloyd was tackled in the backfield on the next play by Budda Baker and Love threw the interception that was intended for Whyle. After Love hit Golden on an out to convert third-and-7, Love was sacked again. During the backups’ 2-minute drill, Tyrod Taylor faced a third-and-5. His throw over the middle to Isaiah Neyor was behind the big receiver, but not horribly so. It was deflected in the air and intercepted. [Not a good thing for Neyor. TGR] 4) Later, Chris Brooks scored on a 5-yard touchdown run. Dabney had a pancake block as Brooks scored with ease. It might have been the best-run running play of the summer. [Dabney failed to break up an INT though, as well. TGR] Huber DEFENSE: Fade to Harrison at the 1 and a two point to McBride as Arizona starting offense finds end zone in team. Anthony Campbell got reps on D-line and I think had a pass deflection. 2) Fehoko catches the TD off a slant to end two minute and that’ll do it for joint practice. Hodkiewicz Defense playing downhill vs Cardinals offense. Edgerrin Cooper and Evan Williams have already crashed for run stuffs. Keisean Nixon on a blitz for potential sack vs Jacoby Brissett. 2) Jacoby Brissett’s receiver slips. Brandon Cisse doesn’t, and he has an easy pick on the left sideline. 3) Another Cardinals receiver slips over the middle, and Koran Oladapo picks Gardner Minshew. Oladapo’s third pick of what’s been a solid camp. 4) Next team period opens after STs. Karl Brooks with a sack on first rep. Keisean Nixon unblocked on a run stuff next rep. Still playing downhill. 5) Then Marvin Harrison Jr. beats Keisean Nixon on a fade for TD. Looked like Nixon expected safety help that never came, and Harrison was wide open. 6) Trey Dean tips a Gardner Minshew pass in the air on third-and-goal, and Ty’Ron Hopper comes down with the INT in end zone. 7) Quite an INT from safety Murvin Kenion. Kitan Oladapo put a hit on Cardinals WR Jalen Brooks, jarring football loose, and Kenion dives to pick the pass before it hits ground. Wood SPECIAL TEAMS: Melton and Kitan are first up at gunner in punt. Hodkiewicz Skyy Moore gets a shot at KR and gets a pretty explosive return. Top Kickoff unit: Cisse - Niemann - Melton - Brooks - Karl Brooks - Hopper - McDuffie. 2) Oladapo and Melton the top gunners. Pin a ball down at the 5 yard line. The first gunner reps went to Melton and Oladapo. 5) In a series of punts meant to pin the Cardinals inside the 10, Whelan had one downed at the 6 by Kitan Oladapo but the others were the 16, 14, 22 and 13. Huber MISCELLANEOUS: About 95% of the time the football is going to be in the hands of either Christian Watson, Jayden Reed, Matthew Golden, Tucker Kraft, Jonnu Smith, MarShawn Lloyd, or Josh Jacobs. I can’t tell you how exciting that is. Legit playmakers pretty much everywhere w/ a stud QB and a coach who knows how to scheme them open. (Don’t ask about the protection). 2) One on ones start and Bo Melton smokes his brother on a slant. That was the only one on one. What a moment for Bo who gets a huge celebration from his wr room. Herman Tucker Kraft had the joint practice against Cardinals high on his "to-do" list after being activated off PUP last month. Cleared for contact, the Packers' tight end enjoyed every hard-hitting minute of it. "That was an opportunity for me right there to wake up, season's here." Hodkiewicz Brian Gutekunst on RB depth if Josh Jacobs misses time with suspension: "I'm pretty confident we can sustain it. That doesn't mean we wouldn't do (claim a RB), but we'll deal with that when that comes. So, no, he’s not going to beat out Tyrod Taylor. 2) it was not a good day for punter Daniel Whelan. He’s got a monster leg but pinning opponents inside the 20 is not the strength to his game. Whelan finished last year with the third-fewest inside-the-20 punts and the fourth-most touchbacks. 3) Last preseason game is Friday. Cuts on Sunday. Week 1 at Minnesota two weeks later. The deflection off Neyor was thrown behind him in the red zone. A WR comes free crossing the end zone and you throw it not 4 foot in front but 2 foot behind on a shortish pass. If Love misses games we likely aren’t winning any. Both missed Sturdivant and Neyor wide open for big plays. Id really have liked to see those two get extended time with Love yesterday. Neither backup is good. McCord though looks like he might be one day. I think they will run with Taylor, but I think it will be ugly and impotent if he needs to play. There no point in having guys that can get behind the D of you can’t get within. 5 yards of them. The OL is not going to cut it either and definitely won’t if Belton had to play T. A big part of the 2 minute drill failures. If we can’t hold up better than that it’s going to be a long season on the ground or through the air. On D, the rush from the outside was insipid. The inside showed life early, but whoa! Torn up by Tonyan and now by McBride and even more so. Gannon has to figure out a better way to handle TEs, including by the ones. He could hold a lead and he got paid to do that and not much else on field. That’s kind of how I see Taylor (who is a little more capable arm wise and in terms of mobility to be fair). He won’t throw it away. I think Taylor will be the Gabe dat replacement, but we’re Live to be going to miss a game, McCord might be discussed. Morgan and ZBB, good, when healthy Rhyan good enough, at Center. Banks and Monk at guard does not make me sleep well at night, but might be enough to get by. If Burton is the backup at Guard and Center, the Packers could live with one interior injury and still be OK..........however, TWO inuries inside, or if either one of the tackles goes down, things look bad..... That means exactly zero because the Packers are not gonna say a damn thing until they knew something, which they did not. It'd be negligent to open their mouths without a shred of information to go on, negligent to the process, the victim, to Josh Jacobs who deserves that due process, and to the team. To all of whom & to which they are responsible, in that order, with the 'fantasy draft' being so last in line it's not on the list for consideration at all. The *only* responsible course of action is to say nothing until the DA makes an announcement or file charges, and even then deference to the process is critical.
