Riyadh, Aug. 27 (SANA) Saudi Pro League club Al-Hilal have agreed a deal to sign England international Ollie Watkins from Aston Villa, with the striker expected to travel to Saudi Arabia this week to complete the transfer.
Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano said Aston Villa had accepted Al-Hilal’s final offer of €58.4 million ($68 million) plus €2 million in add-ons and had given the green light for the move.
Romano said an agreement had been reached on all details of the deal, clearing the way for Watkins to travel to Saudi Arabia to complete the remaining formalities.
Al-Hilal had stepped up their pursuit of the 30-year-old in recent days as the Riyadh-based club sought to reinforce its attacking options.
Earlier reports had said the Saudi club was close to reaching an agreement structured around an initial fee of more than £50 million plus performance-related add-ons.
Watkins joined Aston Villa from Brentford in September 2020 in a deal worth a reported £28 million plus £5 million in potential add-ons, then a club record for Villa.
He has since become one of the Premier League club’s leading attacking players, scoring 108 goals and providing 47 assists in 278 appearances across all competitions.
The forward has also established himself at international level with England after making his senior debut in 2021.
The reported agreement would give Aston Villa a substantial return on their investment in Watkins after six seasons at the Birmingham-based club.
The transfer has yet to be formally announced by Al-Hilal or Aston Villa.
