PSV Women defeated SFK 2000 Sarajevo 3–2, thereby advancing to the final of the second qualifying round of the UEFA Women’s Champions League. The Bosnian national champion initially took the lead, but before halftime, PSV turned the deficit into a lead.
The early stages were marked by a series of setbacks for Kasper Kurland’s team. After nine minutes, Fenna Kalma had to leave the field, and seven minutes later, Lore Jacobs also went off injured. Sarajevo took the lead in the 30th minute with a long-range shot.
PSV showed resilience, however. Eight minutes later, Chimera Ripa equalized the score, and just before halftime, captain Janice Cayman scored from a corner kick to make it 2-1. The Belgian record international thus put her team in the lead.
After halftime, PSV dictated the play for a long time. PSV’s dominance was rewarded in the 74th minute with the 3-1 goal, again scored by Cayman. Sarajevo pulled one back four minutes later, making for a tense finish. However, the Bosnian visitors could not get any closer than 3-2.
With that, PSV has qualified for the final, where they will face either Helsinki or Racing Union.
