Andrew Cavenagh set for Rangers transfer grilling at shareholder summit The new owners are on their third manager after a trophyless season in their first term at the helm Rangers are no longer required to hold an AGM after moving from a PLC to a Limited Company following the US-takeover of the club just over two years ago. And they could be forgiven for swerving a shareholder summit given some of the stormy gatherings in recent years due to the lack of success on the park. A look across the city at their rivals Celtic last year would further back up any move to avoid such a showdown when Peter Lawwell was forced to call a halt to proceedings. But chairman Andrew Cavenagh and Co have stuck to their word after vowing to meet fans on an annual basis, despite the change in legislation meaning they now don't have any obligation. During a meeting with the Rangers Fan Advisory Board they said the decision was is in order to "maintain transparency and engagement" with fans and shareholders. The document read: "The club outlined the changes following the transition from PLC to limited company status. "While statutory requirements for an AGM no longer apply, the ownership group will hold an annual meeting, to maintain transparency and engagement with fans and shareholders. "The aim is to organise this in the summer of 2026. Financial statements will continue to be published via Companies House in line with statutory requirements." That meeting has been scheduled for Monday, August 10 and takes place in the Radisson Blu in Glasgow, starting at 10am. It comes after the completion of a £16million share issue earlier this year. But it's unlikely to be plain sailing for Cavenagh and chief executive Jim Gillespie with fans growing particularly frustrated over the club's transfer strategy. That is likely to be high on the agenda along with the general direction of the club with the new owners now on their third manager in Derek McInnes.
