Augustana Football ready for road trip to open season Vikings play at Missouri Western Thursday night SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) -Tomorrow night is a very busy one in college football as 5 area teams have their season openers. That includes the Augustana Vikings who have their first two games on the road with trips to Missouri Western and Minnesota-Duluth. Head Coach Jerry Olszewski felt really good about spring ball and where his team is at heading into the regular season. The Vikes, who left today, can’t wait to line up against someone else. Jerry Olszewski, Augie FB Coach says, “And then some of the nuances we put in took a little more time, especially with some of the younger players who didn’t understand the fits and the fills. Where they drop in coverage, who they relate to in coverage. Offensively I think we stayed at a pretty good pace through camp. The whole playbook is in. Now we pick out parts for which opponent we are playing. Defensively it’s in, now we’ve got to perfect it.” And the fact that they have a healthy Gunnar Hensley back at QB is huge for Coach OJ and his Vikings.
