The next possession, Natasha Cloud came back and said, ‘She’s not going to sleep with you.'” “Literally as soon as I heard that, I turned to my manager and said, ‘Did she really say that?’ The next possession, she came back down the court, and I was like, ‘I’m not here to sleep with her; I’m actually trying to support my friend.'” “In the next possession, she came back and started using a lot of F-bombs. The sad thing is that there were a lot of kids in the stands, and a lot of Chicago fans actually love her.” “So that was unacceptable to me, and I literally just got up and put my hands up in the air and said, ‘Listen, I’m here to protect women and support my friend Sophie Cunningham, and they just threw me out of the game,” Kanter Freedom said as he explained the incident with Natasha Cloud. So for them to come out and throw me out of the game and literally… they said [my] actions were equal to shooting a gun, I just couldn’t believe it.” “I don’t know who is their PR person but they are doing a terrible job. We might be looking into a lawsuit for sure because this is unacceptable; this is not what sportsmanship looks like.” “Natasha Cloud should have been the one who got thrown out of the game and fined. We wrote to the commissioner and the task force, but we are waiting to hear back from them.” “This is unacceptable; this is not what sportsmanship should look like. But we’ll wait to see what happens,” he further added in response to the Chicago Sky owner’s remarks where he compared Enes Kanter Freedom’s actions to shooting a gun. “He wasn’t given a warning because certain threats don’t get warnings,” said the Chicago Sky owner Michael Alter. “To use an extreme example, uh, when you, when you shoot a gun at someone, you don’t get a warning, ‘Don’t do that again.’ It, it’s, you know, your action doesn’t deserve a warning.” Enes Kanter Freedom thinks such remarks from the Sky owner are grounds for a defamation-of-character lawsuit. But he also admitted he doesn’t plan to make the WNBA a party to the potential suit. “The WNBA loses $50 million every year, so I don’t want to bring a lawsuit and make things even worse for the players because I actually care about the players. So I think in this case, Cathy Engelbert and the task force she’s hiding behind need to do a better job of running this whole league,” Freedom added. There was news that the WNBA has rebuffed Enes Kanter Freedom and Royce White’s declaration for the 2027 WNBA Draft, calling their acts mere ‘publicity stunts’. But Kanter denies any substance to those reports, as no official word has reached him on the issue. “No, please do not believe that news because they are all fake news… We didn’t hear anything official. I’m a peacemaker, I’m not a troublemaker. If they have some issue, please come and talk to me.” “And listen, we’re not even asking for anything difficult. We’re just saying Article 13 (i) says if you identify as a woman, you’re allowed to play. So tomorrow if they write biological next to the word woman, then I will drop everything immediately.” “But until then, I am allowed to play; I should be able to play, and I will be getting ready for the 2026 NBA Draft,” Enes Kanter Freedom concluded. Several voices across the league have encouraged action from the league’s leadership to keep this controversy from getting out of hand. It will certainly be interesting to see what Adam Silver or Cathy Engelbert have to say on this matter if Enes Kanter Freedom goes ahead with a potential lawsuit against the Sky and their owner.
