While Carlos Alcaraz delighted U.S. Open fans with his comeback to the tournament post injury to partner with Serena Williams for a doubles match, a favorite among players is also marking his return. Julien Farel, who has been coiffing the players’ hair for 18 years, will once again be offering his services to the tennis stars from his pop-up inside Arthur Ashe Stadium at the U.S. Open Tennis Championships. In years past, Farel and his team from Farel Salon & Spa have hosted tennis icons including Coco Gauff, Iga Świątek, Aryna Sabalenka, Naomi Osaka, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, Taylor Fritz, Patrick McEnroe, Chris Evert, Billie Jean King and more. “Players on the circuit have little time to go for grooming and styling. Our on-site salon offers top New York City luxury pampering services so players can look their best on the court,” said Farel. “My team and I love creating the players’ tournament styles so they can go on the court or in front of the camera for an interview with confidence. The U.S. Open is one of the most beloved events in our city, and we relish being at the center of it, amidst all the energy, during the last weeks of summer. Now in our 18th year the players know us and the incredible services we provide.” He has yet to get his hands on Alcaraz’s locks — but is hopeful it could happen this year. “Last year I was supposed to then his brother shaved his head,” said Farel. “Let’s see what happens.”
