AC Milan are once again being linked with Noussair Mazraoui, one of Ruben Amorim’s favourites from his time at Manchester United.
Milan have just completed the signing of Diego Moreira from Strasbourg for a fee of €50m that could rise to around €65-66m with add-ons. The Belgian can play both wing-back roles and even further forward if needed, so he should be a versatile option for Amorim.

Mazraoui still on Milan’s radar
Despite this, it seemingly cannot be ruled out that another option for the flanks arrives. CaughtOffside report that Manchester United ‘could face a late decision’ over Mazraoui, as Milan are ‘continuing to be linked’ with a move for him.
While Michael Carrick values the fact that the Moroccan can play as a full-back, wing-back or even as an outside centre-back in a three-man defence, his former coach Amorim is also understood to be a big fan of his flexibility.
The report adds: “Sources close to the agents industry have informed CaughtOffside that Milan are considering Mazraoui as they assess their defensive options before the transfer deadline, although the situation has fluctuated throughout the summer.”
Mazraoui switched to being represented by the Panthera agency during the summer window which could point to a desire to try something new. The 28-year-old started United’s Premier League opener against Hull City – a 2-0 defeat – but was replaced by Diogo Dalot who is competing for the spot.
Amorim ‘likes the defender’ but it is likely that an exit would be needed for Milan to step up their interest. Pervis Estupinan was linked with Aston Villa, while Fikayo Tomori is a candidate too, especially if Mazraoui is seen as a potential right-sided centre-back.
