The Eagles are 0-2 in the preseason. Which is fine because they have been getting some really good data on their rookies. Here’s what I saw from four quarters of preseason football on Saturday night. Makai Lemon: N/A Here’s hoping he’ll be ready to make an impact early in the regular season after missing a lot of time this summer. Eli Stowers: C- Stowers continued an underwhelming preseason with a two target, zero catch game against New England. Given the majority of his snaps were receiving snaps, there wasn’t much to see from him as a blocker. Notably, he lined up out wide, in the slot, and in line. So it does show the Eagles are interested in moving him around. Markel Bell: A- Another dominant performance from Markel Bell, who didn’t allow a single pressure in pass protection and looked great as a run blocker. Right now he is the Eagles’ most exciting rookie. Micah Morris: C Micah Morris didn’t look as good as he did against Baltimore, but he still flashed as a run blocker and overall didn’t look out of place. Cole Payton: N/A Payton barely saw the field as the game was mostly Tanner McKee and Andy Dalton. Uar Bernard: B Okay, so… Uar Bernard actually looked really good in limited snaps against the Patriots. I don’t want to overreact given it was against third stringers, but Bernard not looking out of place is a massive win. But it was more than that, Bernard just looked straight up solid as a run defender. Exciting! The Rest Zion Wilson: Another rough game for Zion Wilson, who got moved easily in the run game any time he was on the field. Kapena Gushiken: Kapena Gushiken was arguably the best defender on the field for the Eagles on Saturday. He played all over the secondary and didn’t allow a single catch. He might get some serious considerations for defensive snaps this year. Maximus Pulley: Pulley also looked really solid at free safety. Joshua Weru: Joshua Weru got his first sack as an NFL player and goodness isn’t that exciting? What a special moment for one of the two international prospects to make his mark like that. It was a great play too where Weru just straight beat his man off the line and was too damn fast for the lineman to ever get a hand on him. If Weru can keep harnessing his ability like that, he may have a future in this league. David Blay Junior: Really struggled with run defense once again.
