Simina Lokotui crossed in the 21st minute before the Bulldogs added three more tries in the 24th, 27th and 31st minutes to take a commanding 24-6 lead into half-time. The Cowboys mounted a spirited second-half comeback, highlighted by a powerful barging effort from prop Ashley Marsters for her first NRLW try. Rick Henry’s forwards kept the pressure on the Bulldogs, with Marsters playing a key role and interchange forward Tiana Raftstrand-Smith scoring twice late in the second half. Her second try cut the margin to just two points with nine minutes remaining. The Bulldogs endured some nervous moments in the closing stages but held on for their third win of the season and their first at Belmore Sports Ground. The Cowboys remain 11th on the ladder despite showing plenty of fight following their impressive win over the Raiders last week. Bulldogs centre Daynah Nankivell was placed on report and sent to the sin bin for a hip-drop tackle in the eighth minute. Bulldogs players Latisha Smythe and Tamika Jones were also placed on report. TITANS EQUAL CLUB RECORD WITH WIN The Titans have equalled a club record with five consecutive wins and taken another major step towards securing a top-four finish after defeating the Sharks 24-10 at Ocean Protect Stadium. It was a tightly fought contest for much of the afternoon, but the Sharks were unable to turn their second-half opportunities into points as Gold Coast took control after the break. The loss leaves the injury-hit Sharks sitting at ninth on the ladder, an unfamiliar position for a club that has reached the finals in every season it has competed in the NRLW. Gold Coast endured a shaky start, with winger Indie Bostock sent to the sin bin for a professional foul in the eighth minute. The Sharks weren’t able to capitalise until late in the sin bin, and the Titans scored shortly after Bostock returned to the field. The momentum continued to swing throughout an entertaining first half. Sharks debutant Sienna Ibrahim crossed for her first NRLW try, before Titans lock Sienna Lofipo put Gold Coast ahead with a try in the 33rd minute to give her side a narrow advantage at half-time. Lofipo struck again in the 47th minute, completing her double and giving the Titans some much-needed breathing room as they began to dictate the tempo of the contest. Gold Coast’s defence proved particularly impressive in the second half, with the Titans missing just three tackles across the match compared with the Sharks’ 31. Ibrahim capped a debut to remember by scoring her second try in the 54th minute, and the Sharks could not find another way through a disciplined Gold Coast defensive line. Cronulla’s growing injury toll also worsened when Georgia Ravics was forced from the field midway through the match. The Sharks were already without halfback Chantay Kiria-Ratu, who was a late withdrawal with an ankle sprain. The Titans return home next week to face the struggling Dragons as they look to strengthen their finals position and extend their winning streak to six matches.
