Former NBA player Enes Kanter Freedom told Newsmax on Tuesday he simply wants the WNBA to define what a woman is. Freedom has said he is declaring for the 2027 WNBA Draft, claiming to identify as a woman, after he looked at the league's collective bargaining agreement and found it doesn't specify what a woman is. "I'm not going to let this go because they are the ones putting these rules and I'm just following the rules," Freedom said on "Rob Schmitt Tonight." "If they ever come out and actually change the rule and said only biological females can play in this league only, or a born female, then fine." "I'm not a troublemaker," Freedom added. "I'm a peacemaker. If they come out and change the rule, I will drop everything immediately. But these are the rules that they put and I'm just following the rules. If you identify as a female, which I am, you're allowed to play in this league." Freedom, who stands 7 feet tall and weighs 280 pounds, said he will try to break Wilt Chamberlain's single-game scoring record of 100 points. "In the name of equality," Freedom said. "Just to send a hell of a message to the upper echelons of what is a very, very unintelligent league." Freedom also praised WNBA player Sophie Cunningham, who said she didn't think biological men should play women's sports. "Sophie Cunningham, she's a national treasure and an American hero," Freedom said. "And she must be protected at all costs. She's not only inspiring people in America, but she's inspiring girls from all over the world. And you know what? Good for her. She's a friend. "I'm just really proud of her. I just hope that none of this outside talk will distract her from her game because she's mentally tough, she's not going to be distracted. "I'm just going to have to put my name on the draft and just dominate the whole league in the name of equality," Freedom continued.
