Canterbury Bankstown FC secured an impressive victory over Bulls FC Academy, overcoming a red card disadvantage en route to a 3-0 triumph. The Berries dominated their penultimate game of the season against the Bulls youngsters last Saturday (22 August) to move into fourth place with 48 points. The Canterbury side copped a major blow in the 30th minute when defender Dejan Bakrdanikoski was sent off with a straight red. The disadvantage did not prove severe as they regrouped and eventually took the lead in the 72nd minute via a corner header by Lorenzo Mirashaj. Fiks Berisha then made it two in the 76th minute after finishing off a chance created for him by William Kounnas. Kounnas polished off a remarkable effort by the Berries with a third and final goal in the 90th minute, his 21st for the season. Canterbury Bankstown head coach Wally Savor was beaming with his side’s display post-game. “We played 60 minutes of the match with 10 men, and it typified the fight and spirit we have shown all season.” The Berries will face off against Macarthur Rams in their final game of the season next Saturday (29 August) at Jensen Park. The two teams are level on points with 48, making it a battle to seal a fourth-place finish.
