‘HAPPY DUDE’ HOGH

AUSTON TRUSTY and Kasper Hogh have played one game together – and already the USA defender is impressed by the attitude of his new team-mate.
The World Cup centre-back returned from the global extravaganza in his homeland, Canada and Mexico during the summer to go straight into the team for the Premiership opener against Dundee at Parkhead on Monday evening.
Hogh fired blanks as the champions relied on last season’s top scorer Benjamin Nygren to make sure of a winning start in the pursuit of a sixth successive title as the Swede glanced a header into the visitors’ net shortly after the turnaround.
SO NEAR…Kasper Hogh is grounded as his shot sweeps past the post with Dundee keeper Owen Goodman helpless.
The record £11million-plus striker passed up a couple of reasonable opportunities to get off the mark at the Hoops and smiled afterwards: “I need more shooting practice.”
The Dane, though, has hit the target with his refreshing attitude, according to Trusty, who joined the club in a £6million switch from Sheffield United two years ago.
The left-sided back-four performer said: “Kasper seems a really high-on-life kind of guy and that’s my type of person, so we’ll get along very, very well.
“He’s just a happy dude. He’s just happy to be here. Like genuinely happy to be here.
“So that’s good to see. You need that kind of energy and also, I like that kind of person. I vibe well off that, too.”
Trusty is also ready to welcome back Filipe Jota who returned to light training at Lennoxtown yesterday after 16 months out with a cruciate ligament injury.
The American, speaking to Celtic TV, continued: “When he gets his confidence back, I’m sure he’ll be a great addition.
“I haven’t really got to experience what he could really do throughout the entire season. So I’ll be really, really happy when he comes back.”
Trusty is now preparing for the 1.30pm kick-off against Kilmarnock at Rugby Park tomorrow afternoon.
And the good news for the stylish defender and his team-mates is the fact the hosts have ripped up their old notorious plastic pitch and replaced it with a hybrid playing surface which is grass-based.
Trusty added: “It’s great news. I think historically, any team that goes there, the one thing you think about is: ‘Okay, we’re going to play on this pitch.’
“I think a lot of players prefer to play on a grass pitch. Well, a good grass pitch. But it’s good they have changed the surface.”
The champions will certainly look to be pitch perfect as they chase three more crucial points at a venue where they relied on stoppage-time winners on both outings last season.
