It added: "The Cameroonian international has signed a contract until June 2031, with an option to extend for a further year." Baleba, 22, joined Brighton from French club Lille in 2023, making 112 appearances for the club in various competitions over three seasons, scoring 4 goals and providing 2 assists. The Cameroonian midfielder featured in 31 Premier League matches last season, before missing part of the competition due to his participation with his national team in the Africa Cup of Nations, which was held in Morocco during December and January. Baleba's name had been linked with a move to Manchester United since last year, following his impressive performances with Brighton, but the club's high financial demands at the time, which reached around €120 million, prevented the deal from being completed. Although Manchester United did not disclose the financial details of the transfer, British media reported that the club paid around €81.8 million to secure the player's services.
