Charles Oliveira wouldn’t mind taking Justin Gaethje’s White House gold if the two collide inside the Octagon again. Gaethje is the reigning UFC lightweight titleholder, and many speculated that he would be retiring after his historic title win at UFC Freedom 250 on the White House lawn. Gaethje dismissed that idea and said he’s still eyeing revenge on Oliveira and Max Holloway. Oliveira choked out Gaethje at UFC 274 back in 2022. If Oliveira is called upon to be Gaethje’s first title challenger, then he wouldn’t mind snagging the special White House title Gaethje was awarded for stopping Ilia Topuria. He told reporter Bia Galev that the more hardware the better (via Home of Fight). “That’s what I said, there’s nowhere to run, and another thing, I said two [belts] and the internet went ‘not two it’s three! It’s the White House, the lightweight and the BMF.’ “So okay, so put all three [on the line], there’s no problem at all.” Oliveira captured the symbolic BMF title when he defeated Max Holloway back in March. While the championship tilt didn’t exactly deliver fireworks, “do Bronxs” got the job done thanks to his grappling. A unanimous decision win for Oliveira was a solid bounce back for the surefire future UFC Hall of Famer after he suffered a knockout loss to Ilia Topuria. The question now is will Oliveira challenge for the 155-pound gold in his next outing. Arman Tsarukyan has a UFC 331 clash with Mauricio Ruffy booked, and Tsarukyan’s team told Ariel Helwani that he has been promised a title shot with a win. Promises aren’t always fulfilled, so it’ll be interesting to see what the UFC brass ultimately decides to do if Tsarukyan is victorious over Ruffy.
