With August nearly over, there is just one month left in the 2026 MLB season. What makes September in MLB special, beyond the playoff race, is the expansion of rosters as teams around the game bring up minor league talent they believe can help them make the postseason or showcase future faces of the franchise. While quite a few elite prospects have already gotten the call to the big leagues in the last few weeks, we take a look at 10 more we want to see make an appearance in The Show when rosters expand in September. Trey Lipscomb, 3B, Washington Nationals With the Washington Nationals well outside the Wild Card race, the organization should use September to showcase some of their best and brightest from the minors. They have already brought up a couple of top prospects this year, but another minor leaguer that should get a call soon is infielder Trey Lipscomb. He has gotten some time in the big leagues over the last few years, but not any in 2026. However, the 26-year-old has earned it this year. This season, he is having a career year with a .298/.333/.554/.887 slashline with 27 homers and 80 RBIs. The Nationals have to find out if Lipscomb should be a part of their future. They should use next month to do that. Mike Sirota, OF, Los Angeles Dodgers Sometimes teams make bold moves with their September call-ups. After the Los Angeles Dodgers lost All-Star Andy Pages for the next month, the door is open for them to do something unexpected. That is why we offer up the radical idea of promoting the second-best player in their system, outfielder Mike Sirota, from Double-A to the big leagues. The 23-year-old has been great in Tulsa. Posting a .310 average, .987 OPS, with 10 homers, 40 RBIs, and 56 runs in 63 games. He is a smart hitter who can take the ball to all fields, and with some pop. He also has speed and offers sound, versatile defense in the outfield. If the Dodgers wanted to inject some extra excitement into the final month of the regular season, showcasing one of the elite prospects they were unwilling to give up in the Tarik Skubal trade would be a lot of fun. Ralphy Velazquez, 1B & OF, Cleveland Guardians The Cleveland Guardians are in the thick of the playoff chase in the American League. Elite prospect Ralphy Velasquez (No. 2 on MLB.com) would offer them the opportunity to not only show one of their top youngster but also bring up a player who can make an impact in the postseason race. The 21-year-old plays first base and the outfield, and deserves a look after hitting .280 with 20 homers and 50 RBIs in 69 games at Columbus this year. As a borderline mid-market club, they should make use of any opportunity to add more worthwhile talent for the final month of the season. Carlos Lagrange, P, New York Yankees On the surface, the No. 4-ranked player in the New York Yankees’ system, Carlos Lagrange, doesn’t have stats worthy of a promotion, with a 1-4 record and 4.55 ERA in Triple-A this year. However, at this point in the season, and even in the playoffs, you can never have enough live arms. Lagrange is a 6-foot-7 thoroughbred who hits triple digits with his fastball and has nasty stuff. That would be a nice option for manager Aaron Boone out of the pen for the final month of the season. Franklin Arias, SS, Boston Red Sox Do the Boston Red Sox need to bring up a prospect from their system? But Franklin Arias — the third-best prospect in all of baseball — would probably be an improvement at an area of need: shortshop. While the youngster made the jump to Triple-A recently, he has continued to put up strong numbers there. In 23 games, he has a .292 AVG, .846 OPS, 4 homers, and 22 RBIs. The 20-year-old is seen as a high-IQ player and plays rock-solid defense at an important position. Letting the youngster get a taste of a playoff race in Boston could be good for his development and bring added excitement for Red Sox fans in September. Jeferson Quero, DH/C, Milwaukee Brewers Catcher and DH Jeferson Quero has shown why he is a player hovering around the Milwaukee Brewers’ top 10 in the minors (on MLB.com) this year. The international signing has had his best season yet in Triple-A. Putting up a .272 average with 12 homers, 58 RBIs, and 48 runs in 100 games for Nashville. A shoulder injury forced him to play more DH this year, and it has allowed him to still be a difference-maker in 2026. However, he is viewed as an outstanding defensive player behind the dish — if his shoulder is healthy. He would be a fun weapon for Murphy to deploy in different ways over the final month of the season. Walker Jenkins, OF, Minnesota Twins Despite being four games under .500, the Minnesota Twins remain in the Wild Card chase and are only a couple of games out from the third and final spot. That may be why they haven’t called up their top prospect yet. But if they want to boost their roster to secure a postseason spot, No. 1 prospect Walker Jenkins should get promoted. The 21-year-old has played almost all year at Triple-A and has been very good. Posting a .306 AVG and .931 OPS with 11 HRs, 27 RBIs, 48 Rs, and 16 SBs in 67 games. He can play center, but the belief is that his strong arm would make him a better fit in right where he could platoon with Luke Keaschall to end the season. Michael Arroyo, OF & 2B, Seattle Mariners Despite their struggles on offense and being an under .500 team this season, the Seattle Mariners are only three games out from first place in the AL West. They need all the help they can get, and that’s why stud prospect Michael Arroyo should be promoted next month. Arroyo has had a good season in Tacoma this year. Posting a .270 AVG and .813 OPS with 31 RBIs and 29 Rs in 38 games. He can play second base as well as the outfield and is skilled at getting on base. Something the Ms really need. James Tibbs III, 1B & RF, Los Angeles Dodgers Outside of first-time All-Star and Gold Glove candid Pages, the Dodgers have gotten average play from the outfield this offseason. Which is very disappointing since they have a ton of money invested in right fielder Kyle Tucker. However, despite the recent injury to Pages, the Dodgers’ deep farm system offers several call-up options. One of the best is seventh-ranked prospect (on MLB.com) James Tibbs III. He has played at first in Triple-A but has experience in the outfield. Yet, more than anything, he has been the Comets’ best hitter this year. Posting a .304 average, .988 OPS, with 27 homers, 87 RBIs, and 94 runs in 116 games. If the Dodgers are looking for instant thump to the lineup, Thibs III should be an immediate call-up. Seaver King, SS & 2B, Washington Nationals Along with Trey Lipscomb, another talented prospect the Nationals should seriously consider for a call up in middle infielder Seaver King. In 2026, the 23-year-old made his debut at Triple-A and carried his hot play from the level below with him. In 88 games this year, he is hitting .318 with a .962 OPS, with 13 homers, 42 RBIs, and 53 Rs. He is a fantastic athlete, and that helps with the pop in his bat and is why he is the system’s best base runner. As the fourth-ranked player in Washington’s system, why not give the youngster a look in September?
