UFC Hall of Famer and analyst Michael Bisping is taking the NSAC to task over withholding fight purse following UFC 329. The three fighters who currently have their pay on lock are Max Holloway, Paddy Pimblett, and Gable Steveson. The victorious athletes had post-fight celebrations where they scaled the top of the cage, and now a disciplinary hearing will determine just how long those fight purse will be withheld. Many prominent names such as color commentator and MMA legend Daniel Cormier have spoken out against the NSAC for discipling celebrations that don’t get in the way of medical staff or cause a legit disruption. You can count Bisping as the latest critic. “The Count” took to his YouTube channel to put the commission on blast for trying to pocket some money from the fighters. “I did it at UFC 199, which was in California, which is one of the strictest [commissions] in the world,” Bisping said. “A lot of fighters jump on top of the cage. It’s one of the best things you want to celebrate. You’ve just won in front of 20,000 people. In front of millions of people watching live all over the world. You’re allowed to celebrate winning. Certainly if you’ve just won the world title. “Boxers do it. In a boxing ring, they jump on the ropes and salute the crowd. That happens all the time, and apparently, there’s no issue with that. But if MMA fighters jump on top of the cage, well, then they’re gonna get fined. They might have their purses withheld. It is utter absolute dogsh*t. It’s nonsense. It’s a crime. It is the athletic commissions trying to get a few bucks for themselves. This rule needs to be changed.” Pimblett’s manager has spoken out against the NSAC for targeting fighter celebrations. Fans have also been critical of commissions for having strict rules on climbing the top of the cage after an athlete wins a fight.
