Lando Norris is set to secure a new contract with McLaren as the reigning Formula 1 world champion is primed to mortgage his future to Woking amid an impressive run of form. The Brit has secured back-to-back wins at the Hungarian Grand Prix and Dutch GP as the MCL40 shows an uptick of form following difficult starts to the 2026 F1 season compared to Mercedes and Ferrari. Not only did he win both the races at the Hungaroring and Zandvoort but he also won by healthy margins of 15 seconds and 11.2 seconds whilst also securing pole position at each event. “We know we’ve been performing well the whole year since Miami,” Norris told media, including Total-Motorsport.com. “We’ve been doing a very good job, and this was a weekend where everything just went perfectly. “Of course our goal is to catch them in both, and especially from a constructor side, it looks a lot more doable than the driver’s side, but I’m doing my best, the team’s doing their best, and that’s all we can hope for.” The form means only Kimi Antonelli has more wins heading into the Italian GP and the results offer an ever-growing chance of successfully defending his maiden title to draw level with the likes of Fernando Alonso, Graham Hill and Jim Clark in the record books. I couldn’t care less about next weekend or the weekend after or whatever. “It’s just what can I do today? What can I do tomorrow? What can I do Saturday and Sunday? That’s just how I live.” But whilst he is only focused on the short-term with a view to winning more races and potentially the title, the same cannot be said for his future with Andrea Stella’s team. He is predicted to make €60m/£51m per year, placing him behind only Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen – both multiple-time world champions with immense marketing power. Limacher reports the agreement is due to begin from the 2027 F1 season and will overwrite his current contract, which is due to expire at the end of that upcoming campaign. Norris currently makes €40m/£34m per year, with the proposed deal signifying both a massive salary increase and the team’s backing of the 26-year-old, despite links to Verstappen throughout the year. Throughout his career, Norris is believed to have achieved a net worth of €60.3m/£58.6m through various contracts with McLaren, along with sponsorships, endorsements and other commercial interests. His net worth ranks him fifth in the sport, behind Hamilton, Alonso, Verstappen and Charles Leclerc.
