This time next week, it will be transfer deadline day. For Leeds United, there’s still plenty of business they need to conduct. In terms of outgoings, it appears as though Largie Ramazani and Lucas Perri are the only players left with uncertain futures who are likely to leave this summer. Mateo Joseph falls into this category too of players whose future likely is away from Leeds. But the Spanish forward is currently rehabbing a knee injury, meaning he is unlikely to leave this summer. However, a recent report has claimed that for incomings, Leeds are targeting getting four more over the line within the last week of the window. For one of these areas, we could also target a free agent to add depth to Daniel Farke’s squad. Leeds United may make a move for Diogo Leite In Simon Jones’ article for the Daily Mail, it is reported that we still want to sign another striker, winger, defender and goalkeeper. Mykhailo Mudryk has been the winger who has been frequently linked with United in recent days. However, the report confirms that our latest loan bid for the 25-year-old has been rejected. The report also states that Diogo Leite, who is a free agent after leaving Union Berlin, is someone we may choose to sign to provide that additional cover in defence. The 29-year-old is primarily a centre-back, but is capable of playing across the backline. The report also reiterates what we know in recent days, that Michael Zetterer from Eintracht Frankfurt is the backup ‘keeper we have been targeting. Talks are said to have taken place over £4.3million move. Florian Plettenberg has also recently posted an update regarding our pursuit of the 31-year-old. Plettenberg’s report states that Leeds have not yet reached an agreement with Zetterer himself or Frankfurt over a potential move. At this stage, Zetterer is said not to be pushing for a move away as he wants to stay and fight for the number one spot at Frankfurt. This is unless Leeds’ offer changes significantly. Obviously, if the German moved to West Yorkshire, he’d be our backup goalkeeper behind James Trafford. Back to Jones’ report, and when it comes to a striker, a name is not mentioned. However, reports have emerged elsewhere today linking us with RB Leipzig’s Conrad Harder. Frantic end to the window for Leeds United With four positions on the 49ers’ agenda, it looks as if it will be a frantic end to the transfer window. That is why I cannot understand why we are seemingly investing all this time into pursuing Zetterer to be our backup ‘keeper. I’m not sure why we’re going through the hassle of trying to persuade someone to be a backup goalie. Surely there are other experienced goalkeepers who would jump at the chance to be a number two at a Premier League club. We need to sign players in multiple other positions. So it just seems odd to me that we’re pursuing Zetterer so heavily. At 31, he has just three seasons where he played regular football in the Bundesliga. So it’s not like he’s an exceptional grizzled veteran we must pull out all the stops to sign. Naturally, the additions of a new striker and winger would be met with the most fanfare. But that depth in goal and on that left side of the defence are still necessities. It’ll be a big ask from the 49ers to get all this business done before the end of the window. Hopefully, they can deliver, like they normally do, in all fairness.
