A former WWE star recently spoke about his differences with Triple H. The 4-time champion parted ways with the company, deciding not to renew his contract.
Carlito signed a new deal with WWE back in 2023 after a surprise appearance at the Royal Rumble that year. The star was quickly added to The Judgment Day faction, where he was a regular feature on weekly television.
During a recent interview with Inside The Ropes, the 47-year-old star mentioned that he intentionally signed a shorter, two-year contract. He felt with Triple H at the helm of creative, the company would not use him well.
“I signed the contract too short. I figured with Hunter in charge, man, they’re not gonna use me, they’re probably gonna bury me. So I hope I have a name when I leave. So they offered me a longer contract, and I signed a two-year contract. Okay, they can’t kill me off too bad in two years, you know what I mean?”
Carlito also added that The Game was never really a fan of his work. He had no personal animosity with the WWE Chief Content Officer and mentioned that things just didn’t work out too well.
“Like I said, with Hunter in charge, I kind of figured, you know, the writing was on the wall. And nothing personal against Hunter. It’s just I know for a fact that he’s never liked, he’s never appreciated my work, I guess. Never been a fan of mine. So it is what it is.”
Carlito is ready to retire after his WWE stint
During the same conversation, Carlito addressed his future after parting ways with WWE. The star noted that he was happy right now performing for his fans. However, he explained that he did not feel the pressure to still keep competing in the ring.
The former Judgment Day member mentioned that he was ready to retire if there were no exciting opportunities for him. The star noted that he was not waiting for any more opportunities from the WWE and was open to exploring other avenues of work that came his way.
