Willie Peters has provided an update on Hull KR centre Oliver Gildart, after he didn’t return for the second half against Castleford Tigers. Gildart, who started the 44-0 win at left centre, was replaced by Rhyse Martin after the break, with his absence coming as a shock to many given there was no visible injury. Martin played 40 minutes out of position, and did very well, scoring a try and kicking five goals. Peters has explained that the former Wigan man has an ankle issue, that could rule him out next week. “I’m not sure how bad it is,” Peters told the press. “I don’t think it’s too bad, but I’m not sure yet.” An update was also provided on Sauaso Sue, who didn’t return for a second spell after featuing in the opening 20 minutes. Sue has been battling a foot injury as of late, and missed the derby against Hull FC as a result. The 34-year-old, who recently penned a one-year deal at the club, is a major doubt for next week, with the boss expecting him to miss out against Catalans Dragons. “We’ll probably have to spell him next week,” Peters said. “We’re going through a really challenging period in the next two, three weeks with so many games. “We did give him the week off, and it’s still probably not where it needs to be. He’s only played one stint the last few weeks, but I want to try get it right now. The return of Tevita Pangai Jr comes at a timely moment, with the former Catalans and NRL enforcer set to make his comeback from suspension next week. Hull KR boss reflects on Castleford Tigers win Commenting on the 44-0 victory, in which Tyrone May and Tom Davies both scored doubles, Peters was happy with the clinicalness of the second-half. “I thought it was a very professional performance. Getting that zero is something that we pride ourselves on. We haven’t done that too often this year, so really pleased with that. “I thought the first half, just energy levels, just energy levels and we weren’t where we needed to be. What I’m happy about is that the players addressed it at half-time. We spoke about it at half-time and then they put it into action. Try-scorer Joe Burgess was just one man praised by Peters, after he has significantly improved his form since returning from a week’s lay-off. “A few weeks back, he probably wasn’t where he needed to be physically,” the Robins boss said. “He had a bit of an issue there with some injuries to his body. “He’s got that right now, and when Joe’s smiling and he’s happy, it’s infectious to the rest of the group.”
