Republic of Ireland international Tara O'Hanlon has made a permanent move from Manchester City to newly promoted WSL2 side Wolverhampton Wanderers. O'Hanlon, 21, moved to City from Peamount United back in January 2024 as one of the most exciting young Irish talents on the scene. The left-sided defender made a fine senior Ireland debut under Vera Pauw in a friendly against the USA in April 2023 and looked destined to kick on for club and country. However the Dubliner's progress was badly derailed by injuries. After arriving in Manchester, she struggled to fully recover from a hamstring tear initially suffered during her time at Peamount. In January 2025, she suffered a medial collateral ligament injury when blocking a shot in training. A calf injury the following summer caused yet more frustration, but loan spells at Sunderland and then Celtic - where O'Hanlon won the Women's Scottish Cup - offered precious game time last season. In November 2025, she won her second Ireland cap in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Hungary. O'Hanlon will now hope to nail down a starting place at Wolves, who were promoted to WSL 2 after a play-off final defeat of Plymouth Argyle.
