TC signs 4-year deal It was promised and it was delivered today. Tyreece Campbell has signed a new contract with the club until 2030. The 22-year old’s current deal was set to run out in a year and he has come under a lot of interest this summer, and the club have fielded offers for him. Marmite is not the right word as every Charlton fan should support and back one of their own, but Campbell does cause much debate, yet he has played for this football club since he was 9-years old and there isn’t much of a better sight than of him charging down the wing in a red shirt being tailed by troubled opponents. Like his mate Miles Leaburn, the potential is huge and there would be nothing more galling than they develop that at another club. The new TC deal protects the interests of the football club, and let us be honest, if he continues in this current early season trajectory then he will follow the likes of Gomez and Konsa and the club will get the fee their 12 year’s of coaching would deserve. Nathan Jones had earmarked TC for special support from the moment he arrived. Originally attempting to move him into a central striking role, then having him play at left-wing-back when we were short last season. Whatever fans felt of those moves, playing in those positions has only helped TC’s all round game. He is stronger, more alert, fitter and defensively astute. He has started the season on fire playing where he is the most dangerous asset to us, and that is out on the wing. Clearly he prefers to be out on the left but is realizing that he can give defenders trouble going out and inside. His capabilities on the right side will improve too, especially working alongside Karlan Grant. A good way to start the day.
