Tottenham Hotspur sign Brazilian winger Savio from Manchester City as major summer of spending continues in north London - 'I had to come' By Tom Masters React to this story Tottenham Hotspur have announced the signing of Brazilian winger Savio, better known until now as Savinho, from Manchester City. The 22-year-old joined City from Troyes in the summer of 2024 but struggled to hold down a place in the starting XI. Spurs confirmed the move on Tuesday morning, completing the signing of the Brazil international after failing to land him last summer. The fee is widely reported to be in the region of £75 million up front with £10m in potential bonuses, which would take Spurs' summer spending past the £300m barrier. ”It’s taken a while, but I’m very happy to be here,” Savio said after his transfer was announced. ”It’s a wonderful opportunity at a brilliant club with one of the best managers in the world. ”As soon as I spoke to the head coach, I knew I had to come. He told me he wants to help me reach the highest level, and I believe we can do that together, as a team.” Savio is Spurs' seventh summer signing and their first attacking addition. The north Londoners have also brought in Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Jan Paul van Hecke, Marcos Senesi, Andy Robertson, and backup goalkeeper Martin Dubravka. In total, Savio played 84 matches for City in his two seasons at Etihad Stadium, scoring seven goals. He won the FA Cup and Carabao Cup last season as Pep Guardiola ended his trophy-laden decade in Manchester with a domestic cup double. On the signing, Spurs boss Roberto De Zerbi said: "Savio is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions. "He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity.
