He will wear the No 17 shirt at the club. The forward previously explained that he adopted the nickname Savinho after it was printed on the back of his shirt after his first call-up to the national team. He kept it following his move from Girona to Manchester City in 2024, but has now reverted back to his actual name. Savio has been registered in time to make his Tottenham debut against Charlton Athletic in the Carabao Cup third round, live on Sky Sports. His arrival takes Spurs' spending this summer past the £300m barrier following the arrivals of Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke for a combined fee of £237m. De Zerbi: Savio 'one of the best' one-on-one Roberto De Zerbi believes Spurs have signed one of the best one-on-one wingers in the world in Savio but to become world class the arrival from City has to add goals to his game. "I think in attacking positions we need players capable one-on-one, to create something, to create a chance to score," said De Zerbi in a press conference on Tuesday. "In terms of one-on-one, he's one of the best players, especially since 2024. He can play on the right side, on the left side. I've known him from a long time, I spoke with him when he went to Manchester City. He's a big player for us." Asked if he is the right man to get the best from him, De Zerbi added: "I don't know if I'm the right man, but for sure he has to achieve. I think a player who is so good in one-on-one, so good at creating chances to score, to be complete, he has to score. "If you analyse the other best wingers in the world, many of them, they score 10 to 15 goals per season. He has the qualities. Maybe his habits, he has to change habits, because he has to be focused on the assists, the one-on-one dribbling and also to score."
