KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 25 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Football League (MFL) have awarded Negeri Sembilan FC (NSFC) a 3-0 win and three points after Kuala Lumpur (KL) City FC failed to field a complete squad for their Super League clash at the Tuanku Abdul Rahman Stadium in Paroi on Saturday (Aug 22). The governing body of the Malaysia League (M-League) said KL City were also fined RM50,000, as well as ordered to pay compensation and related costs as determined by the MFL. The decision was reached at a special MFL Board of Directors meeting yesterday after it reviewed all documents, reports and information submitted by the relevant parties, including a medical report from a government hospital dated Aug 24 that was presented by KL City. According the MFL, its review of the facts and documents, as well as the provisions under the M-League Competition Regulations and the Constitution of the Malaysian Football League, found that KL City failed to sort out their player registration matters in advance, thereby resulting in the club being unable to field a complete squad against NSFC. “Based on a check of the MyPAS system on Saturday, KL City FC only registered 12 players, comprising 11 outfield players and one goalkeeper. “This clearly violated Article 4.5.7(i) of the Competitions Regulations, Malaysian League Manual 2026-2027, which stipulates that each club must register a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 20 players, including at least two goalkeepers,” the MFL said in a statement today. It said KL City failed to comply with an M-League circular dated June. 29, 2026, regarding the registration requirements for officials and players for the 2026-2027 Super League season, which stipulates that all clubs must register at least 20 players, including three goalkeepers, before their first match of the 2026-2027 season. In addition, clubs found to have violated Article 3.1.3 of the Technical Organisation Regulations, which require clubs to submit a Team Selection List of 20 players, including the starting 11, substitutes and captain, as well as 10 officials on the bench. The MFL said the Club Licensing Unit and First Instance Body (FIB) had repeatedly reminded KL City to settle fines imposed by FIFA, which then resulted in the club being subjected to an International Player Registration Ban, but the club failed to take proactive action to resolve the matter The match could not be played after KL City submitted an application to the MFL at 12.40 pm on Saturday (Aug 22) concerning the health condition of 13 players and two team officials who were reported to have been hit by an influenza outbreak. The MFL then informed all clubs through a circular on the same day that the match could not go ahead.
