Crystal Palace are interested in signing Marseille midfielder Quinten Timber this summer, according to L’Equipe.
The Eagles have made extensive enquiries with his club and his representatives to assess the possibility of a move away from France.
He was one of the best midfielders in the Eredivisie with Feyenoord, but the move to France has not worked out after he forced a transfer.
Timber may benefit from a change of environment. He could enjoy a new lease of life after failing to make an impact in France.
Palace began their league campaign with a defeat at Everton and will be desperate to lift the mood after another disappointing transfer window.
Timber is a risky option
Timber is a terrific midfielder on his day. The Dutch international is a cultured box-to-box operator, but Palace need to be careful.
His injury record and recent form raises too many questions for a club that needs dependable options in midfield.
He has missed significant time throughout his career, including a 164-day lay-off with a torn lateral knee ligament in 2024/25.
The Palace target also spent 132 days out with a metatarsal fracture earlier in his career.
Those are not minor setbacks, and they sit alongside knee problems, foot injuries, thigh problems and ankle issues.
Palace have several competitions to navigate, so availability should be a major consideration.
Timber’s talent is undeniable, but the Eagles cannot afford to spend heavily on a player who could be unavailable for long stretches.
