Pakistan athletes step up preparations for 20th Asian Games

LAHORE - Pakistan’s athletics team has begun intensive preparations for the 20th Asian Games, with six athletes from the Army, Navy and WAPDA training at Jinnah Stadium, Islamabad, ahead of the continental event in Aichi–Nagoya, Japan, from September 19 to October 4. The national training camp will continue until September 15, with four male and two female athletes undergoing focused preparations under the supervision of their coaches.Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP) President Brig (R) Wajahat Hussain visited the camp to assess the athletes’ progress and discuss their training programmes and preparations with coaches and team members. To support the athletes’ physical conditioning, Brig Wajahat announced a special nutrition allowance equivalent to four additional daily allowances for each participant throughout the camp.AFP Secretary Lt Col (R) Shahjehan Mir said the camp would conclude on September 15, after which the national contingent would travel to Japan for the Asian Games. The AFP leadership said the structured camp, enhanced nutritional support and participation of athletes from leading departmental teams reflected Pakistan’s commitment to improving athletics standards and producing stronger performances at the continental level.
