Former Pro Bowl wide receiver Allen Robinson has officially called it a career, announcing his retirement from the NFL after 11 seasons. Robinson made the announcement Monday on his 33rd birthday, posting a video on Instagram reflecting on his career and beginning the next chapter of his life. He quickly established himself as one of the league’s top young receivers, earning his lone Pro Bowl selection in 2015 after catching 80 passes for 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns. He also led the NFL in receiving touchdowns that season. The Detroit native later spent four seasons with Jacksonville, four with the Chicago Bears, one with the Los Angeles Rams, one with the Pittsburgh Steelers and his final NFL season with the Detroit Lions. Robinson finishes his career with 565 receptions, 7,058 receiving yards and 43 touchdowns. He also recorded three seasons with more than 1,000 receiving yards, including back-to-back 1,100-plus-yard seasons with Chicago in 2019 and 2020. He played in 12 games that season, recording three receptions for 30 yards, and did not play during the 2025 season. In his retirement announcement, Robinson expressed gratitude for everything football gave him and reflected on the experiences, relationships, and lessons that came with an 11-year career. He also specifically highlighted his time with the Steelers and praised head coach Mike Tomlin, saying his relationship with Tomlin was one of the strongest coaching connections he had throughout his career. For a player who once looked like one of the NFL’s brightest young stars, Robinson’s career included plenty of adversity, including a torn ACL in 2017 that wiped out his final season with Jacksonville. He battled through it and eventually returned to become a productive veteran receiver. Now, after more than a decade in the league, Robinson is walking away on his own terms.
