Ex-Raith Rovers striker Kieron Bowie agrees loan move to Italian Serie A side Sassuolo Calcio Former Raith Rovers striker Kieron Bowie has agreed a loan move from Hellas Verona to fellow Italian outfit Sassuolo Calcio, returning him to the country’s Serie A after the former’s relegation in the summer. The 23-year-old had only been at Verona since the end of January after being sold by Hibernian for an undisclosed club record fee believed to be between £6m and £7m, scoring four goals in 14 fixtures in Italy’s top flight last season. Kirkcaldy-born Bowie had expressed willingness to remain at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi despite dropping down a division but a season-long switch to 2025’s Serie B Champions has now been agreed with either an option or obligation to buy for a fee reckoned to be in the region of £9m depending on various conditions being met. Announcing that move, a spokesperson for his former club said: “Kieron Bowie has joined Sassuolo Calcio on loan with an obligation to buy upon the fulfilment of certain conditions. “The Gialloblu club bid farewell to Kieron and thank him, wishing him all the best for the next chapter of his career.” Welcoming the twice-capped Scotland international to Emilia-Romagna, his new club added: “Sassuolo Calcio announce that they have acquired the football services of Kieron Bowie from Hellas Verona on loan, with an option or obligation to purchase subject to certain conditions being met. “From all the black and green family, welcome, Kieron.” Initially with Glenrothes Strollers, Bowie joined Raith in 2018, moving south of the border to Fulham in 2020 for a reported fee of £150,000. He headed back to his homeland to Hibernian in August 2024 in a move believed to have cost the Edinburgh outfit about £600,000, yielding a sell-on clause windfall of around £120,000 for Rovers.
