Libya, Egypt and Albania discuss sports cooperation

Libya’s Minister of Sports, Fouad Barghash, discussed ways to strengthen sports cooperation and expand joint activities between Libya, Egypt and Albania with his Egyptian counterpart, Nabil Gohar, and Albanian counterpart, Blendi Gonxhe.
The discussions took place during two bilateral meetings held in the Italian city of Taranto on the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the Taranto 2026 Mediterranean Games. Barghash attended the ceremony at the invitation of Italian Sports Minister Andrea Abodi.
The meetings focused on developing the sports sector, training sports and technical staff, building the capabilities of young athletes, and exchanging expertise and experience to improve sporting performance.
The parties stressed the importance of continued institutional coordination and opening new avenues for cooperation and partnership to strengthen Libya’s presence at regional and international sporting events.
Libya's ministry of sports said the meetings are part of efforts to expand its sports relations and partnerships at regional and international levels and create broader opportunities for exchanging expertise to help develop Libya’s sports sector.
