Worcestershire County Cricket Club are delighted to announce the signing of batter George Thomas on a multi-year contract. George joins the Club ahead of the 2027 season after putting pen to paper on a two-year deal that will see him be available for all formats of cricket. A promising top-order batter, the 22-year-old arrives at Worcestershire after stints at Sussex and Somerset, making a name for himself in the Vitality T20 Blast and Metro Bank One Day Cup. With a List A best of 106, Thomas displayed his ball-striking prowess in this summer’s Vitality T20 Blast group stage with a top score of 57 from just 27 balls. Thomas expressed his excitement ahead of the move to New Road. “It is a really exciting opportunity for me to develop my career at Worcestershire across all formats and hopefully kick onto the next level. “The Club is in a really good place and are building for the future with an ambition to win trophies, which is a big motivation for me. “I feel like I have a lot to offer in both red ball and white ball cricket, so I am really looking forward to getting started with the group.” Having made 39 appearances across all formats, the Taunton-born batter represented England at age-group level during the 2022 ICC U19 Cricket World Cup. CEO Ashley Giles, shared his delight after securing the services of Thomas. “As a club we are always looking to strengthen and give ourselves a platform to be as competitive as we can be. “Signing someone like George, a young, talented cricketer who is available for all three formats and is eager to better himself, only helps us moving forward. “We are really excited about what he can bring to the side and delighted to have him on board with us at Worcestershire. Worcestershire Men’s Head Coach Alan Richardson added: “George is a very exciting player who we have had on our radar for a while, so we are really happy to be bringing him into the group. “He has a really dynamic attacking game which he has shown in white ball cricket and has all the skills to develop in the longer format too. “Everyone at the club is looking forward to welcoming him to New Road.”
