Europa League Winger 'High On Celtic Shortlist' | Latest Celtic News

Celtic’s summer transfer business could continue on the left wing, with Adrian Blake now among the names being considered. Sky Sports reports that the Hoops will look to sign a left-sided winger once they get a deal for a right winger over the line. If that deal is completed, the club are expected to move on to the other side of the attack. Blake is one of the players Celtic are looking at as they continue to shape the squad for the season ahead. The 21-year-old has impressed at Utrecht and can play across the front line, although he is mainly used from the left. He is already known to Celtic supporters after facing the Hoops at Celtic Park earlier this year. Blake scored a fine solo goal in Utrecht’s Europa League defeat and showed the kind of direct running that can cause problems from wide areas. His pace and willingness to take defenders on would give O’Neill a different option on the left. There is no sign yet that Celtic have made a formal offer for the winger. At this stage, Blake appears to be one of several players being considered rather than a deal that is close to completion. Celtic still have other areas of the squad to strengthen, but adding more quality on both wings is clearly part of the plan. O’Neill has already said he wants more players in before the Champions League play-off against LASK. The right side remains the first job to deal with. Once that is sorted, Blake could become one of the next names Celtic move for as they look to add more threat from the left.
