Ceferin rules out FIFA presidency bid amid Infantino controversy
UEFA President Aleksander Ceferin has ruled out a run for the FIFA presidency, warning that Gianni Infantino must either resign or face a challenger at the FIFA Congress in Morocco in March 2027.
Ceferin’s comments come amid mounting criticism of Infantino following his controversial proposal to create a company that would allow private investors to buy stakes in FIFA tournaments, including World Cup rights.

Despite ruling himself out of the FIFA presidency race, Ceferin said he remains committed to UEFA and believes protecting the credibility of football’s governing institutions is paramount.
Ceferin also revealed that he has not spoken to Infantino since the controversy over the investment proposal erupted.
Infantino has been FIFA president since 2016 and was re-elected unopposed in 2023.
