West Ham appear to have a lot to do in the closing days of the summer transfer window, as ExWHUEmployee provides the latest.
Reporting on The West Ham Way Patreon, Ex has advised that player exits are playing a significant role in the clubs ability to press ahead with recruiting players for our Championship season.
“So once more this whole window of recruitment has been a complicated domino act of needing players to leave and to clear the squad before they can really move for targets,” stated Ex.
“There are a number of alternative defender targets with Dylan Lawlor of Cardiff being one although his injury situation has meant his situation might be difficult to conclude.
“There are some experienced Premier League defenders that have come into the mix and enquiries will be made next week. The players are said to have leadership skills and this is clearly needed after yesterday’s penalty debacle.
“Ethan Pinnock of Brentford remains a possible target that ticks those boxes but there are others. Pinnock was an unused sub for Brentford in their 3-0 win over Spurs yesterday.
“Taylor Harwood-Bellis has always been a long term target too and interestingly he wasn’t in Southampton’s squad yesterday because he wasn’t in the “right frame of mind”. He could be another consideration.
“A new name from abroad that has been offered to the club is apparently another Nellson. This time Victor Nellson of Galatasary.
“The Danish international used to play for Niles Koppen’s former club FC Copenhagen before his move to Turkey and spent last season on loan at Hellas Verona of Italy. His agent has been in touch and alerted us to his availability too.
“Emmanuel Fernandez of Rangers another club Koppen is familiar with remains an outside target too.
“Portuguese centre-back Diogo
Leite is currently a free agent after his contract with Bundesliga side 1. FC Union Berlin expired on June 30, 2026. He is evaluating his next move amid reported interest from clubs like Leeds United and sides in Saudi Arabia. If those moves don’t materialise he could also be a late option.
“We are confident of signing at least one more centre back with consideration being given to two. If we do sign two then academy defender Kaelan Casey could be allowed to leave the club with Stevenage apparently showing an interest amongst other clubs.
“In regards to wingers, Reiss Nelson’s deal pretty much done I was told and just waiting for West Ham to push the button on. The club are considering other options however and Edvin Austbø of Viking potential options.
“We are looking at a central midfielder too especially if the likes of Alvarez and Magassa do move on. There are a number of options out there and most of these targets have been named by myself. For example we do like Real Betis midfielder Nelson (another Nelson)
“Deossa the Columbia international is thought to be available. Chelsea midfielder Dario Essugo is also someone whose interest we reported on the 7th June. The Portuguese midfielder is available on loan.
“I am anticipating more names to come into the mix in the coming days as the domino effect kicks in.”
Ex will be providing more updates on The West Ham Way Patreon as the situation progresses.
