West Ham United are braced for yet another offer from Brentford for El Hadji Malick Diouf. The Bees have spent much of the summer trying to take the Senegal international back to the Premier League, but West Ham have so far resisted every approach. According to Football Insider, Brentford are now preparing an improved £37m bid for the 21-year-old after seeing their previous three offers rejected. And after Diouf was completely left out of the squad against Charlton Athletic on Saturday, it looks increasingly likely he will be securing a permanent route out of London Stadium in the coming days. Brentford prepare fourth El Hadji Malick Diouf bid West Ham have made it clear throughout the summer that they don't particularly want to lose Diouf, with Football Insider previously reporting that the club were doing "everything" possible to keep him following Brentford's opening approach. But the situation has never been completely in West Ham's hands. It's claimed Diouf is keen on returning to the Premier League following relegation last season. Brentford have clearly sensed an opportunity, and three rejected offers have now apparently been followed by plans for a fourth worth £37m. Diouf joined from Slavia Prague for £19m in July 2025 after helping the Czech club win the league title. His first season in England ended in relegation, but individually he did enough to attract plenty of admirers. Diouf made 32 Premier League appearances and registered five assists last season. Charlton absence raises fresh transfer questions The most interesting development may actually have come before news of Brentford's latest bid emerged. Diouf came off the bench in West Ham's opening Championship game against Burnley. A week later, he wasn't even in the squad for the 2-1 home defeat to Charlton. Diouf had been one of West Ham's most valuable remaining assets following relegation. He is only 21, is already a full Senegal international and showed during his time at Slavia that he can offer far more than traditional defensive output. The season before moving to London Stadium he scored seven goals and registered four assists as a wing-back, while also featuring eight times in the Europa League. That attacking ability is a large part of his appeal and it also explains why West Ham have been reluctant to sell. £37m would leave West Ham with major decision There comes a point, though, where every club has a decision to make. £37m would represent an increase of around £18m on the fee West Ham paid for Diouf a little more than a year ago. For a Championship club undergoing a significant rebuild, that's serious money. But selling him would also create another position Nuno Espirito Santo needs to fill before the transfer window closes. West Ham have already lost a significant amount of first-team quality this summer. Diouf's departure would remove another player who was expected to be capable of playing a major role in the promotion push. There is also the question of how Nuno sees him tactically. Diouf was originally recruited as a player capable of operating at left-back or left wing-back, with his attacking qualities perhaps best suited to the latter role. If Nuno doesn't believe he is the ideal fit for the system he intends to use this season, a £37m offer suddenly becomes considerably more difficult to dismiss. Have your say!
