Nuno Espírito Santo is under considerable pressure already after a dreadful start to the season for West Ham in the Championship. The Portuguese boss’ side fell to defeat at the hands of Charlton on Saturday after yet another poor performance and slow start under Nuno, with fans losing patience in what is supposed to be a reset season in east London. Speaking after the loss on Saturday, The West Ham Way Podcast duo Dave Walker and ExWHUEmployee gave their thoughts on the situation, which needs turning around and fast. “Terrible result,” stated Walker. “No excuses, that was a terrible result. “Why did it take us going 2-0 down before we show the energy and enthusiasm we should’ve shown from the start? Another question mark on Nuno for me. We seem disjointed and unmotivated.” Ex tried to point out some positives from the game, but admitted that pressure is now seriously on Nuno to turn this situation around. “Whilst I thought a draw was a fair result and we showed some promising signs in the second half, particularly after the introduction of Lewis Orford who showed his credentials, it’s a disappointing result and the pressure is on Nuno to start delivering the goods,” stated the club insider. “We need a positive result against Southampton on Tuesday. The next few weeks are also important for recruitment because we clearly need more players in.”
