It's race week, and so we get another official rider announcement for 2027 and beyond. The Superfile Trackhouse MotoGP Team have officially confirmed that they have signed Enea Bastianini for the next two seasons. Bastianini will be joining Raul Fernandez in the US-based team to race Aprilia RS-GPs. Bastianini had been linked to Aprilia the last time contracts were up, in 2024. The Italian was close to joining Marco Bezzecchi in the Noale factory team, but Ducati's decision to put Marc Marquez in the factory Ducati Lenovo Team over Jorge Martin meant that Martin chose to leave Ducati and join Aprilia. This time round, Bastianini lost out to Pecco Bagnaia, who chose to leave Ducati once it became clear they had signed Pedro Acosta to the factory squad. But Aprilia still had faith in Bastianini, and with KTM looking to renew their line up, the Trackhouse squad proved to be a safe haven for the Italian. He joins the team for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. The Superfile Trackhouse MotoGP Team press release appears below: ENEA BASTIANINI JOINS THE SUPERFILE TRACKHOUSE MOTOGP TEAM The SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team, part of the Trackhouse Entertainment Group, today announces that Enea Bastianini will join the team for the start of the 2027 MotoGP World Championship season, initially on a two-year deal, to partner Raul Fernandez who recently renewed his contract to stay with Trackhouse through 2028. Bastianini, 28-years old from Rimini in Italy, will bring his #23 to the SuperFile Trackhouse MotoGP Team and add his considerable experience to the American team who have been front-runners in the 2026 MotoGP World Championship. Starting out in Italian mini-bike racing and Junior championships at a young age, Bastianini joined the Red Bull Rookie Cup series in 2013, scoring 2 wins on his way to 4th place that season and immediately moving on to the Moto3 World Championship for 2014. Three podiums and a string of top 10’s through that rookie season gave him 9th in the Championship standings before he made a major impact in 2015 by finishing 3rd in the class. After an even stronger 2016, with 2nd in the points standings, he made the move up to Moto2 in 2019 and won the intermediate class Championship the following year. His World Championship win in 2020 put him firmly on the radar of the MotoGP class teams and he signed to ride in the premier class for 2021, taking two 3rd place finishes at his home race in San Marino and then again at Misano for the Grand Prix of Emilia Romagna. 2022 started with a bang – victory in Qatar – followed by wins in the USA, France and Aragon which resulted in a 3rd place position in the World Championship standings. His breakout form was blunted in 2023 through an early season injury but Bastianini bounced back in 2024 which saw him in title contention for much of the year – 9 Grand Prix podiums, including 2 wins and 1 Sprint victory – finally finishing the season 4thoverall. But Mir is on a Honda, and him back with Frankie Carchedi who he won his championship with may easily turn things around. As for KTM, neither Binder or Maverick have retained a seat. As Trackhouse is the Aprilia junior team, once Raul improved and was staying there was the opportunity to do something more exciting.
