Portsmouth picked up their first three points of the season away to Lincoln City in a 3-1 victory. Team News John Mousinho made three changes to the team that lost on the opening day. Regan Poole didn’t travel after picking up a knock, duo Luke Brooke-Smith and Ebou Adams were dropped to the bench. Marlon Pack came back into the starting 11 after his spell on the sideline following knee surgery. Ryan Kavuma-McQueen and Benjamin Arthur both made their full Pompey debuts. Lincoln made just one change to their team they changed from a five at the back to four and former Pompey defender Ryley Towler made way for former Pompey winger Recco Hackett Fairchild. First Half After spending the first five minutes of the game on the backfoot the blues got off to the best possible start as Kavuma-McQueen scored his first senior goal. Benjamin Arthur played a long through ball into the path of Abu Kamara, the winger found space in the middle to run into, he played it out on the left wing to McQueen the 17 year old shifted the ball onto his left foot and his shot took a deflection and went into the bottom right corner to give Pompey the lead. Pompey then doubled their lead in the 15th minute Abu Kamara won a free kick just outside of the box. Adrian Segecic stood up to take it, he went for power and another deflection beat the keeper as the ball ended up in the top right corner to put Pompey 2-0 up. Lincoln were handed a lifeline in the 30th minute as Adam Reach’s shot hit the hand of Zak Swanson to win Lincoln a penalty. Former Pompey winger Hackett Fairchild smashed his left footed shot into the right side of the goal, sending Nicolas Schmid the wrong way. Second Half Pompey put the game to bed by getting a third goal in the 69th minute. Andrei Coubis’ loose pass was cut out by Ebou Adams, the substitute drove forward and unleashed a rocket from long range into the left side of the goal to secure the three points for Pompey. Lincoln were inches away from getting a goal back in the 93rd minute. A long ball went straight to Robert Street in the box, his side footed effort deflected off Swanson and hit the bar, Josh Knight came flying over with a diving header to put it behind for a corner. The full time whistle blew and Pompey had won their first game of the 26/27 season after facing back to back defeats. A much better performance from Pompey as Marlon Pack, who was awarded man of the match, made such an impact controlling the midfield. McQueen, Kamara and Segecic all looked dangerous going forward and Arthur had a solid debut at the back.
