FAIRFAX, VA (August 23, 2026) – Sophomore Aayla Burgo and junior Caoume Valle combined to earn their first career points on a second half goal for Mount St. Mary's women's soccer. The Mount scored twice in the second half but fell 4-2 to the George Mason Patriots on Sunday. Burgo was the goal scorer and Valle provided the assist. The strike came in the 78 th minute after the Mount was awarded a corner kick. The score was part of a homecoming for the duo, with Burgo hailing from nearby Haymarket and Valle from nearby Sterling. In goal, Abby Makela finished the contest with eight saves. That brings her season total to 26 and her career count to 115. HOW THE GAME UNFOLDED - George Mason opened the contest on a 4-0 lead, including 2-0 at halftime. Mia Arevalo-Delcid earned both Patriots' first half goals. - Mia Casciani and Keira Jeffries scored for GMU in the second half. - Mount St. Mary's got on the board in the 67th minute on an own goal. - Burgo's goal and Valle's assist rounded out the scoring. UP NEXT In one week's time (Aug. 30), the Mount welcomes Richmond to Waldron Family Stadium at the PNC Sports Complex. A 2 p.m. kickoff is scheduled.
