Crystal Palace winger Romain Esse has attracted interest from Champions League side Club Brugge, with the Belgian side reportedly making contact with Palace over a potential summer move. Crystal Palace Winger Attracts Champions League Interest Romain Esse to Club Brugge? According to Sky Sports, Esse is one of several players that Brugge are exploring this summer as they look to strengthen their squad ahead of the new season. The 21-year-old joined Palace in January 2025 and spent the back end of last season with Coventry City, where he scored two goals in helping them gain promotion to the Premier League. Brugge have already scouted around England this summer and completed the signing of West Ham’s Freddie Potts just a few days ago. Esse’s first-ever touch for Palace ended up in the back of the net in a 2-1 defeat to Brentford as he scored just 25 seconds into his Palace debut. The winger spent the remainder of the season as a regular substitute, but still ended the campaign with an FA Cup winners’ medal after featuring in two of Crystal Palace’s matches on their route to lifting the trophy. The 2025/26 season brought more of the same, with limited league game time alongside starts in the cups. Esse moved on loan to Coventry in January after just four league appearances for Palace and immediately made an impact with two goals in his first three league games, including one against his old side Millwall. Alongside the Championship title, Esse still enjoyed a successful campaign, adding two more trophies to his collection. The winger was an unused substitute as Crystal Palace lifted the Community Shield and also made three appearances during the group stage of their Conference League-winning run. The winger is no doubt talented and showed glimpses of excellence in a Palace shirt but was out of favour with Oliver Glasner throughout his Palace reign. A move to Belgium would represent the first overseas move of his career and could allow him to showcase his talent on the Champions League stage, with Club Brugge qualifying for the competition for a third consecutive season.
