After links in previous transfers, Breel Embolo has once again ended up on AC Milan’s radar as they seek an additional forward.
As Calciomercato.com recall, Embolo is a player who has often been linked with Serie A in recent years. Several Italian clubs – including Juventus and Roma – had expressed interest in the 1997-born Swiss striker, who played in Ligue 1 last season for Rennes.

The mercato spotlight is once again on the player who starred in the recent World Cup with his national team. Embolo’s name is now on the shortlist of Milan and Napoli, with the player already open to a possible move to Italy.
‘Just an idea’
Last season, Embolo racked up eight goals and three assists in 31 Ligue 1 games for Stade Rennais. At the moment, he is ‘just an idea’ for Ruben Amorim and Massimiliano Allegri’s attack.
However, there is ‘concrete interest’, so much so that it that has led to initial discussions with the player’s agent to determine whether there’s scope for a transfer and the potential costs. There’s still no contact with Rennes, who value Embolo at around €15m.
Milan and Napoli must keep an eye on foreign competition, as Bournemouth are also interested in the former Monchengladbach star, and the Premier League would also be a desirable destination for the player.
To delve deeper into the Embolo negotiations, both Milan and Napoli must first resolve some issues in attack, the main ones being the futures of Rafael Leão and Romelu Lukaku respectively. For the former, the Rossoneri have yet to receive any offers deemed worthy, which is around €50m.
There is also the Santiago Gimenez situation to resolve. The Mexican striker has been linked strongly with Porto and Lazio in recent days and if he were to depart, the need to sign a more experienced back-up striker could arise.
