Charles Leclerc delivered the fastest lap of the Dutch GP, recording a 1:14.230 for Ferrari at Zandvoort after the Monegasque had been involved in a tense strategic battle throughout the race. Eventually finishing fifth after spending much of the opening stint fighting the McLaren of Oscar Piastri, Leclerc made his first pit stop alongside Kimi Antonelli and Lando Norris on Lap 22, with all three switching to the hard compound. He later returned to the pits on Lap 44 after an extended battle with teammate Lewis Hamilton that caused a headache for the Ferrari pit wall to manage, re-joining in sixth behind George Russell. Hamilton made his move on the final lap but then had to back off as Leclerc came close to making contact with his teammate when he dumped his battery in an attempt to pass into Turn 7. And the final Dutch GP provided plenty of drama, with the 2026 weekend introducing a Sprint format to Zandvoort for the first time as Verstappen suffered an early retirement after crashing out on Lap 1. The Dutch GP therefore closed its chapter in Formula 1 on Sunday in what was a box office spectacle in the Netherlands, bringing an end to a story that dates back to Zandvoort‘s first world championship race in 1952.
